Kicking things off this month, the Jordan Brand introduced us to this all new colorway of the Air Jordan Retro 3. Earning them the “Stealth” nickname, the Jordan Brand covered this new-generation colorway with a series of grey shades and a combination of black and varsity red throughout. While the colorway might put these over the top, the selection of materials used is also just as great. The “Stealth” Air Jordan Retro 3 arrives covered in nubuck, with a pebbled leather running along the mudguard. The timeless elephant print is also present, along the toe and heel area.

Before I begin, I want to give a brief disclaimer. I met Ms. Proper not too long ago at a local showcase, and she is a great person. I don’t want anyone reading this to believe for one minute that I will give props where it isn’t due. I don’t care how friendly you are or how much you pay me that will not magically turn you from wack to dope in my eyes. Honestly, I’m cool with rappers that are trash. Just because rapping is not your strength doesn’t make you a bad friend. Anywho, let’s get down to business.

I was hesitant about doing this review because I didn’t want to hurt Ms. Proper’s feelings because I have never actually sat down and listened to her work. But after listening to No Days Off, I love her! There were a lot of dope aspects of this mixtape. The production was decent but Proper’s flow stands out as it should. There are extremely too many artists making it in the game because they saved up their pennies for a dope producer. How many songs have you heard with a crazy beat and the rapper’s lyrics were lame? Proper is a true lyricist. Listen closely to her bars. Many would compare her to the 90s Queen Latifah, YoYo, Mc Lyte, etc. but that’s cliché. One of my favorites is Showtime featuring Doe the Paperboy. The first time I heard it was at The Camel during the For the Love of Hip Hop show. That’s what we prepare ourselves for, right? Those long, restless nights in the studio, memorizing scenes, and rehearsing are all done for that moment when the curtains open. It’s your time. Showtime. I was shocked that she flowed over the Big Sean’s Final Hour on Everybody Wants to Be a Rapper, but I was thoroughly impressed. Everyone knows that’s my favorite song and one of the many reasons why I’m such a huge Big Sean fan. But just like Sean had Don Cannon, I feel like Proper needs a dope intro to this track. Simply because something that hot needs an announcement. Sidenote: I’m available to hit the studio and do that for you, Proper. I noticed a few tracks for the bitches and sucka lovers. “So when I quiver when we kiss, yes, I feel like a lil bitch”, Proper recites on Be With You Interlude. Yes! Poetry is where it all began. This is a solid mixtape; great lyricism, poetry, a little pinch of old school, and a few comical lines. “Bitch look like Miss Piggy…tryna sit with the team we’ll turn asalaam alaikum” (Oh My God).

I haven’t always been a Wale fan. Not at all. But I found respect for him after hearing Self Made. Although his labelmates are all alleged dope boys and that’s all they rap about, Wale stayed true to himself. I warmed up to Wale more and more, especially after his verse on Travis Porter Make it Rain remix. I’ve always been a sucker for spoken word and Wale is an exceptional poet, too.

But I’m here to review his latest project. The Eleven One Eleven Theory is one of the best mixtapes I have heard in awhile. Matter fact, that’s all I have been playing in my crib since I downloaded it. It starts off with a snippet of a famous interview of the late, great Tupac. Then, you’re thrown into a DC club beating your feet (or whatever you do now) to Fuck You. GOGO! I love this track. “And the sex I lock it down see my stick is the gavel” and “she reluctantly fucking she’s an adamant blower” Wale spits. This mixtape starts off with such a good feeling. There is even a reggae joint, which gave the tape a nice touch but the features could’ve been left out. Every song didn’t sound the same, yet they blended and complimented each other. There were a lot of hot tracks. When I heard a scene from Paid in Full on Barry Sanders, I was pleasantly surprised. It was a dope intro to an awesome song. I want to also mention Samples N Shit. Sweet baby Jesus! That’s all I have to say about that.

But I do have a question, and Wale if you’re reading this feel free to respond. Who scorned this nigga though? Does he fall in love with every hoe/groupie he meets? There are way too many songs about bitches and their hoe ass ways. Even Chain Music is about how hoes act different when a nigga starts getting money. But after listening to Passive Aggres-Her, I’m convinced he likes that shit. I had to replay this ode to a sick ass bitch several times. Whoever he wrote that song for needs psychiatric help. But like he said “all the insane bitches so passionate..I be needing to leave but I be needing a nut.” Yo, Lil Duval on Fairy Tale is a damn fool. And everyone making their cuddle-up mixtape for the Fall needs to include Mother Nature. That one is guaranteed to get the juices flowing and provide motivation to use no hands. “Same ole, same ole new canvas you need a new stroke” he makes it sound so damn good.

I am pleased with The Eleven One Eleven Theory. It is a solid work that could’ve definitely been an album. I can only pray that he never loses focus of who he is and continues to give us the greatness we so desperately want.
